Inspired, or rather a little startled was I by the article on, on the topic: "children photos – Papa BB´s greatest treasure." How to protect your pictures', as I was thinking about it as I have backed up my

photos. Until recently, I had even no backup my photos until the computer is so crashed me one day that I had to replace the hardware part. I came but only with a tool, which provided command-prompt level access on the corresponding disk. So I was able to save all images and I decided to make backups from now on regularly (and the even though there not even the pictures by Timo were, because it happened before he

was born). I secured so from now on my data on an external hard drive in more or less regular intervals. As a tool, I guess to a tool, giving it free from Microsoft: SyncToy. The program will make sure that folder pairs are kept in sync. Important to know is that it is not the default setting "Synchronize", but "Contribute". Background is the following: In synchronize mode to perform all actions on both sides (incl. tax) Delete data). In other words, in the worst case you delete something on the backup disk and the program then throws what then diligently deletes the data in the ori
ginal folder. That's why it is better "Contribute", in this mode, all data is copied from left to right, there is no Löschvorgänge.Dies way as a brief digres
sion on the subject but on the "right" side. I've looked at times while other backup programs me, but you were always a bit oversized for my purposes.

Ultimately I got but doubt whether an external hard drive is enough to secure the children's drawings (which are some pretty unique). What is E.g., in an apartment fire? Or in a slump? Then all data would be gone despite the ba

ckup. I've tried several things so. Here my personal experience:

1. Amazon Webser
vicesHierbei is a so-called cloud computing platform. So globally distributed computers that are grouped together to a computer. There, as a software developer, you can write programs and buy the computing power to run it
. There is also a service called "Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3)". In principle a huge hard drive on the Internet. Through the distribution of data around the world, which is of course incredibly resilient. The Web interface to upload data, but not especially liked and I think was rather designed for software developers. At the time, when I tested it, there was a special offer, where the first 50 TB! (in words terabytes) are free of charge. Then you would have to pay per GB 0, 15 ct. Traffic (so the high and download of the files for the first 50 GB free was). Meanwhile, the prices have changed little.

2. Hi-DriveStrato
Strato offers currently Hi-drive media 100 GB / 500 GB / 1000 GB of disk space. I had signed up for a trial period (trial) of 500 GB Hi-drives. The Hi-drive works similarly to the Amazon Web services, however the data is not globally distributed, but in multiple data centers in Germany, what probably does not detract from the reliability ;
-) advantage than the S3 Amazon: you can use the Hi-drive with the Strato software as a network drive in Windows and then has it as a drive in Explorer available. Another advantage: you can also share the data that is called with the correct access permission also relatives or friends be able to download the data. Ultimately I but again aborted the test because too long took upload me and's come to monthly cost of €9.99 at the end of the test phase would be.

3. 1 and 1 – Smartdri
veLetztlich is occurred to me then that I had also an online data storage in the package with 1 & 1 in my DSL contract. As I long time thus not was concerned, I was more than pleasantly surprised that it is whopping 116 GB. The principle is exactly the same, as at the Hi-drive by Strato: it will be an upload Manager down, which ensures that the online hard drive is included in the Windows Explorer. So, then also SyncToy can be used as a backup program.
The kicker: the DSL contract is the online storage included free. Thus, the choice was easy. :-

) But this online hard drives have also their drawbacks. Because, when you first start to like me, after a few months there to play backups, have are collected on the local hard drive several gigabytes of data. Then all of a sudden becomes clear, that when an upload speed of approx. 1 Mbit / s and a data volume of nearly 30 gigabytes, go a few days in the country, until the data in the network. My computer ran just over a week after long-term use, but the data are backed up now in any case all. :-

) Conclusion: starts early enough, to use, deal with the subject, and then a little comparing, it's actually not a big problem to secure his pictures of the beloved young.
