I called today at the DKMZ and me asking what has happened since my stem cell donation.

Unfortunately I was informed, that the recipient is deceased now. But it wasn't the donation itself, but he had very severe rejection and was generally not in the best condition (which is not surprising if you have leukemia).  I was assured that I tried to allow something more life time in any case.

I'm now listed in any case again as active donor, will probably still only activated, if there really is no other donor.

Well, unfortunately somewhat sober the feedback, but I can at least say I tried it. Maybe I try it in future with blood donations, which are also important, and I think the "resilience" of stem cell donation, I should be able to withstand arguably the 🙂
